Coordinate the District's Minority Student Achievement Network (MSAN) initiatives. District representative to Learning Achievement Coalition - Oakland. Direct District's student and staff Civil Rights Compliance (Title VII, Title IX, etc.). Supervise all Bilingual, ESL and Newcomer Programs. Coordinate all State and Federal programs: Title I, Title II, Title III, State Bilingual program. Coordinate with Human Resources staff diversity recruitment and retention efforts. Other duties as assigned.

SALARY RANGE: $102,798 - $118,217

This position serves as the Graphic Arts Designer/Desk-Top Publisher for test composition for the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP), Michigan’s Alternate Assessment Program for students with cognitive impairments (MI-Access), the Michigan English Language Proficiency Assessment (ELPA), and other OEAA test composition staff. This position will ensure that all items, directions and graphics for each of the OEAA assessment programs are designed and maintained in a secure environment with an emphasis on quality control — items that are electronically transferred from the item bank as part of test composition must be accurate, provide the correct answer, and represent the most current version of the item and related material. This position will assist with the preparation of graphs, charts, maps, and other forms of presentations related to test composition. This position will assist in proofing all materials and assist with layout as needed for each of the OEAA assessment programs. The employee in this position is proficient with a variety of desktop publishing software and database applications and will demonstrate proficiency with writing and grammatical skills.

As the staff specialist for the area of test composition, this position uses specialized knowledge in the area of test design. Performs the most complex graphic arts designer assignments, which go beyond those expected at the experienced or senior level. Prepares markups and drafts, and estimates of the time, resources, and materials needed to produce the desired products. Confers with requesters and subject matter experts in order to solve problems of graphic production, interpretation and presentation. Recommends page layouts of test booklets (over 900 forms annually), manuals and other ancillary test materials, including covers and placement of test items, photographs, and graphics to maximize test performance for all students, including those with special needs. Coordinates production of camera-ready art or components of layouts or finished art that has been created using computer graphics packages. Recommends project schedules for test composition and additional resource needs, such as contractors or student interns. Assists other composition staff with the most challenging technical applications. This employee works as a team member with the manager, other staff, and members of the educational community to identify and implement operational improvements.
